Civil Society engagement
The Observatory strengthens regional civil society in the fight against organized crime, armed violence, and extremism. It shares critical information and provides support and training, working closely with local actors to create a framework that amplifies their voice and impact.

Our approach

Collaboration with civil society is key to bring about change: there is no combating transnational criminal networks without organizing ourselves into a network with local and international connections.

The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) will be present and be active at the CCPCJ throughout and will participate in the following events during the week, to highlight our latest research and activities related to enhancing understanding of issues on the agenda at this year’s CCPCJ, including crime prevention and community resilience, crimes that affect the environment, organized fraud operations, youth criminality, human trafficking and other challenges. We will also be contributing with recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of policy responses, for better impacts on communities and societies around the world.

Closer connection to the ground

The Observatory aims to ensure its research creates real impact by working hand in hand with local civil society, recognizing that their involvement is key to lasting change.
